Seattle Polish Film Festival: It Came from the Water
October 13, 2023
A group of Warsaw high school graduates, sick and tired of lockdowns and online schooling, decide to head to the seaside for a party to remember.
SIFF year-round passes and vouchers are not valid for this screening.
Kamil, a high school graduate, organizes a party of life in the seaside estate of his millionaire father. A group of his friends arrive at the party, just like him, wanting to have fun after the lockdown caused by the pandemic. At first everything goes well: young people enjoy the charms of the beach, drink, dance, have sex, experience emotional elation and dilemmas. Only nature sends disturbing signals: strange infections are multiplying, the concentration of blue-green algae in the Baltic Sea is increasing. Over time, the fun gets out of hand. But that won't be the worst. This is the first Polish film about zombies, which is a bit of a horror film, but mostly a visionary moral picture, with references to ecology and a large dose of humor. "It is an entertaining, psychedelic-adventure film about the young, but not only for the young," said the director of "It came from the water" Xawery Żuławski.
