Part of Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project (where he chose to restore and preserve several some of world cinema masterpieces) Dry Summer tells the story of a farmer who claims ownership of water from his land, leading to a violent dispute and sexual frustrations.

Winner of the 1964 Golden Bear (Berlin Film Festival) and the Biennale (Venice Film Festival), Dry Summer was chosen by esteemed filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Fatih Akın to be restored and preserved as part of the World Cinema Project.
Starring some of Turkish cinema's greatest stars, Dry Summer is a story about ownership, land tensions, sexual frustrations, limited resources, and greed. Directed by Metin Erksan, one of the most important auteurs of Turkish classic cinema, Dry Summer stars Erol Taş as a farmer who claims ownership of water from his land, leading to violent disputes.
Filmmaker Fatih Akın called it "one of the most important legacies of Turkish cinema". Dry Summer is presented as part of the STFF archival screenings in its restored version.
