From co-director Vincent Paronnaud (Persepolis) comes Into the Wonderwoods, a mixed-media voyage into weirdness that will captivate animation fans young and old. When vivid daydreamer Angelo is left behind on a family road trip at a rest stop, he must make his way through a magical forest inhabited by a colorful cavalcade of characters. Striking a tone somewhere squarely between Studio Ghibli and Dreamworks, the French language film is a love letter to the art of animation, maneuvering between different techniques to bring one-eyed robots, musically inclined frogs, and sentient lumps of vegetation to life. Younger cinephiles will giggle at the humorous exploits of Angelo and his new friends (including a squirrel that wishes he was a bird) on his perilous journey to reunite with his family and protect the forest from evil, while older animation enthusiasts will be dazzled by the beautiful visual style of the film.
