Opening Night 2025: Welcome to the Reel World

You’ve pored over the guidebooks. Planned outfits for every conceivable weather forecast. Packed your suitcase with just enough room for a few cherished souvenirs. Maybe it was stressful, or perhaps it came with the ease that excitement lends. You’ve come from far off or close by, by plane, train, automobile, or Metro. And now, you’re finally here.

Welcome to your Reel World escape. SIFF is thrilled to have you along as we embark on a trip to the cinema, a most worthy destination where we’ll enjoy some spectacular sights.

The 51st Seattle International Film Festival will open at the Paramount Theatre May 15 with Four Mothers, about a gay Irish novelist who must look after four aging women when his friends unexpectedly drop their mothers off so that they can go party at Maspalomas Pride. This comedy really delivers on the tenderness, depth, and, of course, humor—a perfect way to kick off your journey through the Reel World.

After you’ve gotten into that sweet vacationing mood, we’ll head right outside the theater for SIFF’s famous Opening Night Party on 9th Ave, where you’ll get a taste of the local culture with music, dancing, and complimentary drinks and bites from some of Seattle’s finest dining establishments.
