“‘Every Little Thing’ works its way toward a deeply satisfying conclusion, a big celebration of tiny things and the special person who has made it all possible.”—IndieWire
“...a densely layered meditation on love, resilience and letting go”—The Guardian
Terry Masear wants to save every injured hummingbird in Los Angeles—some might even call her a bird whisperer. Having established LA’s only, dedicated hummingbird rescue center, she whispers to hundreds of the birds every year, helping them heal. In helping these fragile yet resilient creatures, she has created a reflection of her own journey of recovery from the tragedies and injuries she has suffered in her past. Inspired by Masear’s 2015 book “Fastest Things on Wings: Rescuing Hummingbirds in Hollywood”, director Sally Aitken brings the lives of Terry and her tiny patients into sharp focus, capturing her deep and honest care for Cactus, Wasabi, and the other hummingbirds with an empathetic lens and stunning, beautifully detailed photography. Seen through the eyes of Aitken and Masear, each bird becomes a memorable protagonist in their own right—mighty and heroic—and in each act of kindness, an opportunity for each of us to find grace.
