Rewind, Be Kind: Scooby-Doo
July 26, 2024
Mystery, Inc. is in disarray. After solving a mystery at a toy factory, tensions reach an all-time high. Fred, Velma, and Daphne go on their separate ways leaving Shaggy and Scobby to their own devices. Eventually, after several years, they all reluctantly reunite to help solve the mystery of Spooky Island. Some audience members and critics were nonplussed about a modern adaptation of Scooby-Doo. The CGI-Live Action integration turned them off as well. We, personally, find CGI Scooby endlessly charming! We also strongly feel that the ensemble cast of Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini (and more) are Zillennial comedy icons!

Scooby-Doo (2002) is the first live-action movie in the ongoing, decades-long Scooby-Doo franchise. It doesn’t hold back any punches either. Some people felt that a modern Scooby-Doo adaptation wasn’t needed. We feel that the James Gunn screenplay perfectly weaves the beloved characters of the 60s with early 2000s culture! The movie starts with Mystery, Inc. in disarray. They’ve broken up and paved their own paths. Eventually, Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), and Scooby-Doo (Neil Fanning) end up reluctantly teaming up to put a stop to a supposed demon curse that has taken over a horror-themed tropical island resort. We believe that the ensemble cast of Scooby-Doo (2002) is a standout in the Zillennial era of film.
Also, the soundtrack rocks! I think we can all agree on this.
