Noir City

Intended as the first in a series of B features about an intrepid policewoman (stylish and vivacious Marsha Hunt), this engaging entry was the only one produced. Although modestly budgeted, it has a sharp and satisfying script from B veteran George Bricker, adept direction, and a supporting cast of B stalwarts such as John Litel, Harry Shannon, and June Vincent.

Conceived as the first in a series of B features about an intrepid policewoman, played by the stylish and vivacious Marsha Hunt, this engaging entry ended up being the only one produced. A film once so rare it wasn’t even in Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide! Sony made a new 35mm print for Noir City’s 2007 tribute to Ms. Hunt. Mary Ryan gamely goes to prison, undercover, to earn her criminal cred, then once outside infiltrates a gang of jewel thieves. Although modestly budgeted, the film has a sharp and satisfying script from B veteran George Bricker, adept direction, and a supporting cast featuring such B stalwarts such as John Litel, Harry Shannon, and June Vincent. Note courtesy of Noir City.
